Patience is a virtue, a little more wouldn't hurt me!

Well, well, well!

We finally finished the little girl's room! I have been trying to figure out the best way to use these letters Jennifer made us that say Sydney. I knew I wanted to have a mixed theme for the nursery and struggled with it for a while. We finally thought of some interesting ways to combine "Thank heaven for little girls", and "constellations". I really liked the idea of Sydney being our bright star, but this was hard to put together! All the girls in my family got the creative gene, but not me! So any feedback would be great! Positive AND negative! The letters are hung behind the crib in case they fall.

I am so incredibly excited for Sydney to come! I am out walking the mall and stores each night while Chris is at work. I am trying so hard to not get too frustrated with myself and just let things happen when they happen. Today we had our last fetal monitering appointment and it went great! Little Sydney is weighing in at approximately 5lb, 13oz! She is still in the lower-normal range for weight, despite my gestational diabetes. I am so blessed to have had such great doctors here in Vegas. That was another great concern for me without having my Mom close by. She has helped me immensely through countless phone calls of crying and stress! I don't know what I would do without my phone to talk to her so much!

Chris has put up with a good amount of sensitivity as well. Bless his heart, but I am more in love with him today than I was the day we were married. He helps me stay calm in so many ways and is such a reassurance that everything will be okay! I am so ecstatic about our little family starting such an amazing journey! Life is just incredible!

Pregnancy news!

A 4 pound, tiny, heavenly angel is growing rapidly inside of me. A few weeks ago, Chris and I gained some confusing news and it had me a little in a panic. I failed 2 glucose tests which they give to women around week 28 in order to check how the placenta is handling simple sugars. I had a difficult time trying to get any straight answers from a few different doctors which had gone home for the weekend. I went home and started looking for answers off the internet. I knew this was not the best route to go, but it was all I could think of. Of course, I found much to worry about! Today was a different story and I am feeling much more relaxed about being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I have truly tried to rely on prayer and family, finding comfort in both. Today, I was relieved to hear that Sydney does not seem to being affected by the diabetes. None whatsoever! She is even under weight in the 20th percentile. I am still checking my blood sugar levels 4 times a day and am watching my diet with a new attitude. Not much longer until she comes and blesses our small family with her smile and laughter!

Christmas 2009

For Christmas this year, we were incredibly blessed with a variety of opportunities! We were so thrilled to be able to get down to Arizona and spend so much quality time with both sides of our families! Chris' family came down and stayed with Grandma Betty, while Steve's parents were coming down as well from North Carolina. I stayed there for a total of about 2 weeks while Chris had to fly back to Vegas for 3 days of work. He was then able to fly back down and enjoy the rest of our Christmas adventure! The eve before Christmas Eve was extraordinary! Both of our families came over to my Mom's for a soup dinner! We had a blast! Everyone was there and we had a white elephant gift exchange! That is a memory we will never forget! One of our greatest worries was spending quality time with everyone! There never seems enough time to scatter around and get to see everyone. For Christmas Eve, my Dad usually has us five steffey kids over for the night. This year, we did not do that. Chris and I went to Grandma Betty's home and spent some time over there. We then went back to my Mom and Steve's house for the rest of the night. On Christmas morning, we went over to my Dad's house and opened up presents with the rest of the Steffey kids. After a light breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice and delightfully warm cinnamon rolls, we rushed to Grandma Betty's house for the Miera Christmas! We had the traditional breakfast casserole with drenched in butter toast, more orange juice and apple juice! Chris and I started to experience food comas before noon! After we opened our presents over there, we then scurried off to my Mom and Steve's home! We stayed there for the rest of the afternoon and had too much delicious, mouth watering, addicting food! We then headed back to Grandma Betty's to play a card game that has been a family tradition for years! We played for a few hours and got to spend some time with all our family! It was amazing! The next morning, we were able to spend time with my Mom before we had to hit the road. Chris had work that night and we knew traffic could get pretty bad over the Hoover Dam. What an incredibly, busy Christmas we had! We wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. We were surrounded near love, charity, laughter and too much more! A special thank you to everyone who helped make Christmas a memory of amazing beauty! We love you all, and are looking forward to all the next firsts for this coming year!

Music in the home

Last Friday night, I went to a Relief Society Christmas party (Chris practically pushed me out the door). He told me I needed to stay for the whole night. I got to the party and was really missing my friends in Arizona. I got through the night and as soon as the closing prayer was said, I left as quietly as I walked in. When I walked in the house, Chris asked me if I would want to see a movie! I was excited to get to spend some one on one time with Chris and to just get out of the house again! When we got out of the movie, I was exhausted and went home to climb into bed! I guess I fell asleep because a few hours later, I woke up to my Mom, and the twin girls and Griffin laughing at me! They came up to Vegas to surprise me with a PIANO!!! Chris knew the whole time. He tried to keep me up all night, but I still fell asleep regardless of his efforts! The next morning we moved in the piano and all the other little baby items my Mom had brought with her. It was a terrific weekend. I got to spend all weekend with my Mom, Steve, Nellers, Sonni, Griffin and my Christopher! It was so great to see them all! I never expected any of it! Chris is so sneaky! Now, we are just looking for a tuner but I am so excited to have a piano again! I love it! Chris is now showing an interest in learning a few tunes himself!!!

I have no idea if this is working, but I have heard I need to give it a try. I have facebooked and myspaced, and thought I would want to try this too! Now how do I find people on this??? What do I do now???
